Most social media platforms are built on an engagement-for-profit model, engineered to hook children’s attention and keep them glued to a screen for ad revenue.
ActiveFun is fundamentally different. Our primary goal is not profit; it is real-world impact. We want to dismantle the virtual isolation of modern social media and encourage children to close their laptops, step outside, move their bodies, and build tangible, real-life social connections through local sports, clubs, and activities in South Holland. We use technology solely as a bridge to bring children back to real life, safely.
We have engineered the ActiveFun framework with strict technical boundaries to ensure your child’s data never falls into unauthorized hands.
Parental Master Control: Children under the age of 18 cannot independently register an account on ActiveFun. All child sub-profiles are created, modified, and controlled entirely through a verified parent or legal guardian's master dashboard.
Zero Public Indexing: Child profiles are completely invisible to public search engines (like Google) and unverified platform visitors. A child's athletic interests, age, or location cannot be discovered via a web search.
The "Need-to-Know" Data Bridge: When you register your child for a football tryout, swimming lesson, or hockey camp, only the specific, verified Activity Provider (the vetted club organizer or coach) receives the necessary details to manage safety and attendance.
Masked Communications: To protect peer-to-peer buyers and sellers on our local marketplace, all messaging is routed through our internal encrypted system, masking your private email addresses and mobile numbers.
To maintain a safe, wholesome environment within our community feeds and groups, we enforce a strict code of conduct regarding media:
Mandatory Parental Consent for Media: Activity organizers, coaches, and other parents are strictly prohibited from uploading recognizable photographs, videos, or full legal names of minors to ActiveFun without explicit, documented consent from that child’s legal guardian.
Proactive Moderation: We utilize automated filtering and human moderation to monitor community feeds. Any content that compromises a minor's dignity, privacy, or safety will be permanently removed instantly, and the offending account will face an immediate, permanent ban.
We understand that safety on the screen must translate to safety on the field.
While ActiveFun acts as a neutral directory connecting you to local providers, we require all businesses, coaches, and clubs wishing to list premium or transactional booking features to undergo an identity verification process.
We actively encourage our parent community to report any listing that does not meet the high safety and professional standards expected of youth instructors in the Netherlands.
Technology is a tool, but parental guidance remains the ultimate safeguard. Here are practical strategies to maximize your family's safety and well-being:
Use Nicknames or First Names Only: When setting up your child's sub-profile for sports discovery, you do not need to use their full legal surname. A first name or familiar nickname is perfectly sufficient for coaches to track attendance.
Review Club Policies Personally: Before attending a newly discovered coaching clinic or sports camp, use our direct messaging feature to ask the provider about their local safety protocols, coach certifications (VOG - Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag in the Netherlands), and child-to-instructor ratios.
Establish Healthy Digital Boundaries: Use ActiveFun together as a family planning tool. Let your children browse the directory with you to pick their next hobby, reinforcing the idea that the screen is simply a roadmap to an active, real-world adventure.

Mandatory Certificate of Conduct (VOG) Vetting: Our structural commitment to protecting minors translates into rigid screening frameworks on the field. Every instructor, coach, facilitator, or active volunteer delivering clinics, training drills, or creative workshops directly on behalf of ActiveFun during physical "Pop-Up Play" days and community markets is strictly required to hold a valid, verified Dutch Certificate of Conduct (Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag - VOG). The vetting check must explicitly cover screening profiles associated with supervising, mentoring, or instructing minors (Profile 84 or equivalent). Any individual failing to produce a cleared VOG is legally barred from field participation.
Parental Chaperone Mandate: ActiveFun real-world events are engineered to foster family togetherness; our platform does not provide daycare, nursery, or unsupervised after-school childcare services. Parents, legal guardians, or designated adult chaperones must remain physically present at the event venue at all times and retain primary duty of care and supervisory oversight of their minors. Unsupervised drop-offs of children are strictly prohibited.
On-Site Media and Photography Governance: ActiveFun enforces a high-standard privacy boundary regarding media capture during physical events. Authorized platform photographers are clearly identified via official platform apparel and will never publish recognizable close-up portraits of minors without obtaining explicit digital or written consent from the present parent or guardian. General attendees are expected to respect communal privacy; capturing unapproved photographs or video recordings of third-party minors is grounds for immediate removal from the venue.
